Combination Clutch/Brake Packages

 

Airflex Combination Clutch/Brake Packages are available in four different models: AMCB, FSPA, CBC and DCB. The FSPA line was designed primarily for use on punch presses but has found application on all types of cyclic equipment. FSPA products feature an air-applied clutch and either a drum or disc style brake. The CBC and DCB lines feature an air-actuated disc clutch and a spring-applied disc brake. The CBC line was designed primarily for high speed, high cyclic, heavy-duty industrial applications. The DCB line was designed for high speed, continuously running machinery requiring an extremely fast stop.

AMCB

 

The Airflex® AMCB AccuStop™ clutch/brake combination consists of an air-actuated disc clutch and a spring-applied disc brake. Engineered for small-to-medium tonnage, high speed, high cycle punch presses, the AMCB AccuStop™ unit delivers high torque and low inertia in a compact design.

 

FEATURES:

 

The AMCB AccuStop™ unit is precision engineered and manufactured from high performance materials to reduce maintenance time and maintain production. Standard features include:
 

  • Ductile iron cylinder for long cycle life under tough industrial conditions

  • Low inertia components reduce energy loss

    • optimizes cycle times

    • reduces friction material wear

  • Long life friction material results in less downtime, maintenance and replacement cost

  • Consistent, stable stopping angle decreases the need for adjustments to the press

  • Bolted friction shoes allow for easy replacement without requiring disc removal

  • Designed in safety feature provides a visual signal at the end of friction material life and ensures torque remains to stop the operation

  • Engineered, self-lubricating composite bushings for quiet operation

  • Eaton is ISO 9001 certified

  • AMCB AccuStop™ design conforms to all relevant portions of ANSI B11.1 standard for metal forming presses

Airflex CBC

CBC

 

The Airflex CBC unit combines an air actuated disc clutch and spring- applied disc brake into a compact package, which can be readily adapted to new or existing flywheel drives. Designed primarily for high cyclic punch press service, the unit has been applied on a wide variety of high speed, high cyclic applications.

  • Clutch Capacities* Up To: 788,000 lb·in, 58.073 N·m

  • Brake Capacities* Up To: 372,000 lb·in, 42.029 N·m

  • Typical Applications: Automatic punching machines, press brakes, printing machines, shears, stamping and forming presses, woodworking machines

  • Packages: Complete CBC bearing mount flywheel hub packages are available upon request

Combination Clutch/Brake Packages

 

Airflex Combination Clutch/Brake Packages feature drum type CB or VC air applied clutches fastened to standard bearing-mounted flywheels. These clutch/flywheel assemblies are then combined with drum type CS and CTE or disc type DBA and DBB spring-applied, air released brakes. Although designed primarily for punch press use, they have found application on all types of cyclic equipment.

Airflex's DCB combination air-actuated disc clutch and spring-applied disc brake was specifically designed for the can making industry. It is ideally suited for high speed continuously running machinery requiring an extremely fast stop.
