Oil and Oil/Air Cooled Mutliple Disc Clutches & Brakes
Airflex Oil Cooled Hydraulic Clutches are multiple-disc units available in stationery or rotating cylinder design. They are intended for use with a spray, splash or through the shaft lubricating system; where high speeds are encountered and a high torque/small envelope ratio is required. The are also suitable for air actuation.
Airflex Oil/Air Cooled Magnetic Clutches & Brakes are stationary field, multiple-disc units actuated by electromagnetic force. The units can be furnished with disc packs for either wet or dry operation. Operation in oil is recommended where high speeds, high cyclic rates and heavy loads are encountered and where wear must be minimized.
AR
Airflex hydraulic clutches are wet friction clutches designed for use within a transmission. A transmission lube pump is generally adequate as a source of actuating pressure. The clutch hub is custom bored and keyseated for shaft mounting. Torque transfer from the driving to the driven member is accomplished by means of an externally slotted driven cup which engages external lugs on the driving disks. Friction material is of a sintered bronze type.
FEATURES:
-
Type AR is designed to provide maximum torque within a minimum space envelope.
-
The actuating cylinder rotates with the clutch. Actuation is accomplished through internal shaft and clutch passages.
-
Torque Capacities* Up To: 22,400 lb·in, 2.530 N·m
-
Typical Applications: Synchronizing, indexing, speed changing, marine main propulsion, mooring winch applications
-
Standard Sizes: AR 600, AR 800
AS
Airflex hydraulic clutches are multiple-disc units available in stationary or rotating cylinder design. They are intended for use with a spray, splash or through the shaft lubricating system; where high speeds are encountered and a high torque/small envelope ratio is required. They are also suitable for air actuation.
FEATURES:
-
Type AS utilizes a bearing mounted, stationary actuating cylinder which permits a direct external connection to the clutch.
-
The AS design eliminates any centrifugal head on the actuating fluid which could prevent clutch disengagement.
-
Torque Capacities* Up To: 26,000 lb·in, 2.550 N·m
-
Typical Applications: Synchronizing, indexing, speed changing, marine main propulsion, mooring winch applications
-
Standard Sizes: AS350, AS450, AS550, AS600, AS700, AS800, AS900
